DESIGN: Here is a sneak preview of my city symphont project. I have photographed graffiti and stenciled street art as my theme. The idea in my designs is to give these public art pieces a gallery i.e a street art gallery where road signs, billboards etc are the frames of where to display the art. This is to change the city in to an interactive art gallery but allowing the art to stay in its original environment! enjoy...

DESIGN: CITY SYMPHONY:
I took some initial pics at our 2nd AMBUSH night to get a focus on the symphony element of this exercise. I got numerous photos trying to get a feel of what i want to do:

Phone call (Ed walsh)

Happy Chappy (Ed Walsh)

Not Impressed (Ed Walsh)

DJ Sarah Marshall (Ed Walsh)

The Magical Poj Masta (Ed Walsh)

You Knows It (Ed Walsh)

Moment in time (Ed Walsh)

Stomp (Ed Walsh)

DIRECTION FOR CAMERA:
This is the analysis of the rest of the scripts

EMERGENT CLAUSE:
This script has a good caption on an up to date human lifestyle topic. It uses a group of people in desperate need of a job to show the way the system plays for people who achieve it. This is becoming an ever popular subject of how society looks apon the economic and industrial lifestyle many people live today. Having a season such as christmas high-lights the cruel nature of the world: a time like christmas is still no time to stop the hussle. Howver i did not like the script, i think the use of the santa clause job was wasteful and something more grey and stale was needed - i saw it to comical but would of prefered a more "black comedy" element to it.

CLOWN
Again, i feel this script has a good portrayal of its message, but the storyline pulled away from the idea. The script shows a clown, or comedian, who is just on the long way down from the highs in his career. he script really encourages a sad-self pitying mood to the audience as you feel like you could be in the club watching this disasteerus break down. I would have moderfied the script so the clown was alone with an imaginery audience, just to really push the paranoid almost skitsophrenic (soz about spelling!) under-pinning atmosphere. i like the idea of the spot light shots and think you get some really good cinemaphotography from them but i feel the locations and cast requirements make this to hard to achieve what i would want to get out of the film.

BIG EATING COMPETITION
This film deals with the human motives of winning and how we are always striving to achieve, some times pointless tasks, and how low some go to win. Thats really it, i didn't get into this script at all i foound a bit silly and boring! sorry. The narrative of the Eating Contest wasn't appealing to me - it felt to alien for the message behind it.

THE SHELFISH CUT
The relationship of the Barber and the boy in this sript can be percieved from many angles. The boy is a veine and rude customer to the barber, the barber gets increasingly impatient to the boy but stays polite. At the end the barber over-charges the boy in a "got you back" climax. This could be seen as a metaphor for a number of different stereotypical clashes i.e upper and lower class conflict (barber being the opressed lower class and the boy an arrogant upper class who deserves it!) or ,maybe more appropriate, the clash of the old and young generation! In reality i think it is a mild comedic sketch, it could be entertaining but i dont think i could really stretch any deeper ideas out of it!

DIRECTION FOR CAMERA:
This is the first blog for this module. We have been assigned a brief to shoot a scripted piece. I have stripped down each script and anaylsed them both personally and constructively. i have chosen the script "Holding Pattern".
The synopis of this script is quite simple.
There is one single main character, a romanian man, and we follow his day to day activites in Britain. Why this man is doing the things he does, such as queing inline at a government office., is totally up to my discretion in how i interprut the script in my film.
the script made me recognise loenliness and a subdude feeling, because of this, the main character urges sympathy from the audience even though you have know knowledge of what person he is. This is what i will exploit in my film as i try to express the routine of loneliness that alienates alot of people. On the service i plan to make a film that gains intrege from the audience for the character but an underlining issue will be the fact that communication is so ripe in our times but bringing people together doesn't always result less lonely world. This is what i read as a message from the script.

DOCUMENTARY:

We have been set a brief to do a 4 minute documentary. In a group of 6 We will be filiming a piece on how nottinghams history has shaped its present and futre and how this relates to the current crim epidemic portrayed in the media. The title is "Not in Nottingham".
We have been learning new interview techniques in our workshops and developing a good foundation for this film.
Should be a good piece to work and explore some new things about the city!
